- Title Page. For some institutions, it is not a requirement to include this page in the laboratory report. For graphs when you label the two axes, include the units of measurement for each. The independent variable is put on the X- axis while the dependent variable is placed on the Y-axis. A simple scale is recommended for graph work while the scale on both axes can be treated independently, they must both be linear.
