Choose 2 acts from the video that you think are examples of heroism OR that you think they are not heroism.
This is NOT a research paper. It is not to be about the history of the Vietnam War. Focus on the video and the nurses and their part in the war. What heroic deeds did they perform?
Essay question:
The documentary is the non-fiction – real life – experiences of women who were not drafted (there was no draft for women), but who voluntarily joined the military and performed services as nurses during the Vietnam War, putting themselves in harm’s way every day they served.
Answer this question:
Do you see them as heroes? If so, why? What did they do (as seen or heard in the video) that makes them heroes? If not, why?

Introduction = Thesis Statement
The introduction must contain a thesis statement addressing the essay question. Do not provide details in this paragraph – save that for the body of your essay. In your introduction, you only INTRODUCE your topic. Use these links to help you write your introduction:

3 – If they are not heroes, why not?
Body Paragraph/s
The body of your essay gives details about your topic. Depending upon the length of your essay or how much you have to say about your topic, you may need more than one paragraph to accomplish that task. When you change subjects, you need a new paragraph.
1 – Give two examples of heroic acts.
2 – Or – explain why their acts are not heroic.
Conclusion
Your conclusion, concludes or ends your essay. Do NOT introduce any new information. New information or something you “forgot” to include, must be in your introduction or the body of your essay OR leave it out. Your Introduction and Conclusion MUST relate to each other. Do NOT copy and paste your Introduction into your Conclusion.
1 – If they are heroes, explain how they were recognized for their heroism. Do not use “I” in your concluding thoughts.
2 – If they are not heroes, conclude with how they are not heroes. Did they not deserve to be recognized by Congress?
