Your task is to construct a simple topographic profile.
A topographic profile is simply the “side view” of the topography or, how the land is shaped if you were to take a cross-section through the land surface. Think of it as the trail you need to follow if you need to get from Point A to Point B and you had to walk there, over the land surface, on a straight line. Topographic profiles are important in understanding what the terrain, or topography, looks like. If you are a hiker, and use any of the hiking apps, they typically will include a profile of the trail so that you can understand the difficulty of the hike that you will be taking. For me, this equates to time it will take to hike and how much water that I’ll need to bring.
