The Social Network

The Social Network was released in 2010 as an American biographical drama film directed by David Fincher and written by Aaron Sorkin. The cast includes Jesse Eisenberg portraying as founder Mark Zuckerberg, accompanied by Andrew Garfield as Eduardo Saverin, Justin Timberlake as Sean Parker, Armie Hammer as Cameron, Tyler Winklevoss, and Max Minghella as Divya Narendra (David Fincher, 2010). The film was tailored from Ben Mezrich’s 2009 book The Accidental Billionaires.
The plot of The Social Network is based around Mark Zuckerberg and the growth of the largest to date social media platform Facebook. The movie begins with Zuckerberg attending Harvard University and the initialization of the social media platform. The film continues into numerous lawsuits that follow Zuckerberg allowing his journey (Latif, 2016). Furthermore, the movie illustrates the growth of the platform to California and the issues that Zuckerberg faces with building a company with friends. The film draws on Zuckerberg’s explosive growth and what it took for the billionaire to be today.
The main themes of the movie include Power and Greed. The film begins with Zuckerberg being insulted and therefore placing himself in a powerful position of self-worth. Power is the dominant theme present throughout the movie. The movie has multiple scenes displaying power in connection to the magnitude of Facebook, which the movie is based on (Latif, 2016). Greed is prevalent as Zuckerberg continually shows his intelligence and urge for superiority and power throughout the film.
