The Foundation of Knowledge

Instructions

The profession of nursing is information-intensive, and nurses rely on accurate and timely data to make appropriate, situation-specific decisions. For this scholarly paper, review the Foundation of Knowledge model (McGonigle & Mastrian, 2022, pp. 10-18), choose a relevant situation from your nursing practice (past or present), and analyze it using this model.
It is important for the baccalaureate-prepared nurse to have competence in commonly used computer applications, such as Microsoft Word documents. This is the first of two written assignments in the course, and for all papers, use APA format and follow all criteria of the Written Assignment Rubric. The following format should be used to compose this paper (see APA Manual, 7th ed., 2020 p. 61 for sample student paper).
Paper Format:
• Title Page Introduction
o Use the title of your paper as the heading for your introductory paragraph
o Use a level 1 heading (title case, bold, centered) for this title
o Provide a brief introductory paragraph as an overview of your paper.
• Body of the Paper – use a level 1 heading for each of the following six sections:
o Identify the situation that you are analyzing.
o Describe:
 How did you acquire knowledge?
 How did you process knowledge?
 How did you generate knowledge?
 How did you disseminate knowledge?
 How did you use feedback, and what was the effect of feedback on the foundation of your knowledge? (McGonigle & Mastrian, 2022, p. 18)
• Conclusion
o Use the word ‘Conclusion’ as your level 1 heading for this section
o Provide a brief summary of the key points of your paper.
Directions:
• Follow all elements of APA style and format.
• Compose a four to six page paper (exclusive of the title page and reference page).
• Address each of the components outlined above.
• Include at least two unique* scholarly articles from the nursing/healthcare/informatics literature (*resources not already provided in this course).
