After reading “The Evolution of the Internet: From Military Experiment to General Purpose Technology” and “Cybersecurity: A Pre-history,” you will write a reflection paper. In this assignment, you will explore how the Soviet space program influenced the creation of ARPA, a pivotal step toward developing the World Wide Web. Additionally, you will investigate the security challenges that arose with computer networking, examining their significance in the digital landscape.

After reading “The Evolution of the Internet: From Military Experiment to General Purpose Technology,” please explain why ARPANET was an interesting case study that highlights how technologies are socially shaped. In your reflection, include an additional example of how technologies have been socially shaped.
2. After reading “Cybersecurity: A Pre-history,” please choose two of the four insights gained by American policy-makers in the article and briefly describe how and why they became salient.
