Terrorist Attack

Question 1

Assume that you are the homeland security office director for a city of 200,000 people. Your new mayor knows little about disaster relief, emergency management, or anything related to homeland security. In an information paper, address the following issues:

• Explain how the fear of natural disasters differs from the fear of a terrorist attack.
• Assess the impact of such differences by exploring the steps the United States has undertaken to address both of these vectors.
• Determine if we fear the destruction of a Category 5 hurricane more of less than a suicide bomb attack in a major city. Justify your response with research.

Support your information paper with a minimum of five scholarly resources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources, including older articles, may be included.

Topic: Discuss some strategies for overcoming nervousness and fear before and during presentations. Describe the three strategies you believe are most effective for you.

Question 3

In a 1-2 page paper apply the principles of Classical Conditioning to everyday life.

Using an original example of Classical Conditioning, be sure to correctly use and identify all of the terms: unconditioned stimulus, conditioned stimulus, unconditioned response, conditioned response. Your example can describe an emotional reaction like fear or happiness, or some other automatic response. You may also wish to say whether stimulus generalization occurred.
