Executive Summary and Presentation
Larry Line stumbled upon a presentation made by the CHRO at Netflix about 10 years ago: Netflix Culture: Freedom and Responsibility Download Netflix Culture: Freedom and Responsibility. He found the information interesting and is considering whether Quadline should implement the same HR practices.
Your team will create a 15-20 minute presentation and a 2-page executive summary for Quadline’s executive team. Please check the ‘People’ link in Canvas on the course menu to see your group assignment and position. You will get assigned to a team AND each team will receive a position to take:
• Support implementing the Netflix practices at Quadline
• Disagree with all the Netflix practices for Quadline
• Partially agree/disagree, with Netflix practices at Quadline
Content to Include in Presentation and Executive Summary
• Identify 2-3 HR components from the Netflix presentation
• Position & why
o You must completely uphold your position (e.g. if your group was assigned the ‘Support’ position, your presentation cannot disagree with any Netflix elements. You may prioritize some components over others.)
• Facts/data to support your opinion
o Include current analysis of Netflix and information you know about Quadline
• Recommendations & Risks
o Think about strategic human capital components we’ve covered so far
• Implementation
• Next Steps
Discuss the items above along with any other salient issues with regard to strategic human capital management in the case. The assignment should not simply summarize or explain the author’s point of view or the content. It must critically examine the presentation in light of all relevant course content from Modules 1-9.
Presentation
• 15-20 minutes
• Should feel like a meeting with Larry
• Focus more on presenting as a professional than creating a structured paper
• Everyone must speak on camera during the presentation
• Include visuals during the presentation, which you can also use in the executive summary. Get creative (don’t make it academic), think about what you would see in a professional setting.
• Record using Zoom and save the .mp4 file. Use the share screen option to display visuals.
Executive Summary
• Between two and three pages
• Highlight the key points of your presentation
• No APA
• Focus on creating something an executive could review after the meeting and possibly share with other executives to quickly find the important points
• You should have visuals
