   1. Describe your experience in the area of learning second languages, within and possibly outside of the educational system. Which languages do you speak and where did you learn them? What were your strengths and weaknesses in the learning process, what did you find motivating or not, and why?
   2. Brandl provides a short historical sketch of the modern second language education. Where would you place your own experiences in language education?
   3. Decide which four (out of eight) principles from Brandl’s article best fit your own experiences.

2. Your role model
   1. Describe a good language teacher from your own school or study time, and explain to what extent they fit the job opening for a modern second language teacher. If your teacher showed any additional skills or qualities, mention them as well.

3. You as a language teacher
   1. Use the job opening for a modern second language teacher. Describe aspects from this text that you consider essential to yourself and those that you consider less important. Explain why. Describe to what extent you are already experiences with (some) of the aspects mentioned in the job opening. Where and how have you gained that experience? Also mention some complementary knowledge or experience you would consider relevant.

4. You as a subject related expert in training
   1. Describe some core concepts of insight into language acquisition and language use that you are familiar with, and how these insights might help you to develop into a good language teacher.
   2. End with two learning questions about good language education that you would like answered during the coming academic year. Match these to the theoretical notions you have described under 1.
