Conduct research to find 8 examples of excellent social service organizations in your local community. Pay special attention to resources that are unique to your community and agencies that are especially strong in the care/ support that they provide. (Ideally, you’re highlighting the best of what your local community has to offer– the kinds of places that you would be excited to tell others about if they were in need of help.) Create a visually appealing PowerPoint presentation that provides detailed information about all 8 agencies (usually one slide for each).
Choose of the agencies above to call and request an interview. talk with a social service provider who works at the agency.
How did they chose to work here? What is their educational/ career background?
What does a typical day look like?
How do they care for themselves? How does the agency support it’s staff?
Is there anything they wish they could change about the agency or about their own role?
Add a slide to your presentation that introduces the person you interviewed and shares what you learned.
