Proposed Halls of Residence
L&D are a medium sized contracting company with a wealth of experience in Civil Engineering and Construction projects, quality assurance forms the foundation in which they are synonymous in their reputation.
The University campus at docklands has now been completed; the university is expanding and has decided to construct a new university to support its growth and expansion at a new location.
The construction of the new halls of residence is under Design and Build; you have been provided with the original schematic drawing and layout for the project.
The project is subdivided into three categories’;
Superstructure.
Finishes/curtain walling
You are responsible for one of these sections as outlined in the class, the student who undertakes section one will be the overall Project Manager. You will be expected to provide a master programme (at the presentation) on excel or similar merging all students previously submitted programmes as one.

Section 2 Finishes /Curtain Walling -Student
3. (a) Produce a detailed method statement (project specific) for 3 main
activities within your section supported by detailed pictorials, identify
any risk within this section and provide a solution on how to minimize them.
20 marks
(b) Design a Project Logic plan for your part of the works along
with a Logistics Plan for the following:-
Delivery of materials to site, unloading and movement of materials
on site to their final destination. 15 marks
(c) Design a SWM plan for your section of works, you are to include
the following with a brief overview of each section:
Plan and prepare
Allocate responsibility
Identify Waste
How will the waste be managed?
Identify how to dispose of the waste.
Organise materials and waste
Communicate plan and carry out training
Measure your waste and update SWMP
Review and improve.
Discuss who is responsible for the plan and how long it should be kept for after project completion.
15 marks
(d) Discuss with calculations a method to preserving water within the
building. 20 marks
