Step One: The Top Pocket Find
Parents, the administration, and department heads would have a monthly award for the teacher who models the values of their school. “The Top Pocket Find” award could be chocolate coins, a ring pop, a candy necklace, or something treasure-related. This award would be given to the educator who the parents and students decide is best serving them. Service means, transparency with curriculum and clear and consistent communication.
The Top Pocket would have a display in a place of prominence in the school, either the cafeteria or the gym. The display would consist of a large pocket cut-out. A “big-head” of the Top Pocket teacher would stick out from this pocket. This display would remain year-round and would be added monthly.
Step Two: The Bobby Dazzler
In May, or Teacher Appreciation Week, The Bobby Dazzler is awarded to an educator that was a Top Pocket Find. The administration, parents, students, and other stakeholders would vote on this recipient.
Students, Parents, and other stakeholders would be asked for submission to The Bobby Dazzler with an explanation of why the Top Pocket Find is truly a treasure.
