Path-Goal Leadership

Read Chapter 6: Path-Goal Theory

  1. Complete the “Path-Goal Leadership Questionnaire” at the end of the chapter.
  2. Record and present your total scores for each of the four path goal styles of leadership (include this in your submission along with #4 below). (Present the scores before the summary.)
  3. Write a 1-2 page summary giving an interpretation of your scores, using the “Scoring Interpretation” and the chapter reading as your guide. (Summary Prompts: Which styles of leadership do you use most often, which do you use less often, and what does this say/suggest about you; are you surprised by any of your scores or the ranking, if so, which ones and why; finish up by reflecting on how these findings can help you develop as a leader.)
  4. Save and add the final draft as a component of the Final Project (your Personal Leadership Development Plan).

For the sake of those who need clarity….

On the Path-Goal Theory assessment scheduled for this week, the scoring instructions will tell you to REVERSE THE SCORES FOR ITEMS 7, 11, 16, and 18
Here’s an example of what that means…
EXAMPLE:

  • Wherever you’re supposed to count the points for those particular questions, you’ll reverse the points for your answer.
    • If your answer for Question 18 was 1 (not at all), you will add 7 points for the scoring instead of 1.
    • or if your answer for Question 18 was 2 (hardly ever), you’ll add 6 points for the scoring instead of 2.
    • Etc.
