Instructions for Assignment 5: Research Essay (30%)

Directions: Write a detailed argument in which you respond to the following question:

“Are gender issues still a problem in modern America?”

In your essay, you must incorporate direct quotations from at least five of the following essays from They Say/I Say. Failure to meet this requirement will result in a “D” for the assignment.

*You must also include a Works Cited page. Works Cited entries must be arranged according to MLA style of documentation.

*Include an introductory paragraph consisting of your thesis statement and well-developed lead-in sentences, at least three or four body paragraphs, and a concluding paragraph.

*The essay must be at least 1500 words, double-spaced, 12-point size type, Times New Roman font
