Management Plan

This assessment item is group assignment and group participation would be assessed as part of the assessment.    The case study simulates a change scenario where the student takes on the role of change manager.  The case information is not complete so where necessary students will have to make assumptions and argue the pros and cons for any recommendations they make.  If necessary, students are expected to find relevant information in the academic literature to justify their answers.

Case Study:

This case study presents a scenario of an organization “Sunoco, Inc.” The change implementation began with fact-finding as we discovered that our file drawers contained both valuable records needed to operate the business along with infrequently used records. We also learned that information was out of date and/or difficult to determine the latest versions. We also looked at other paper-based records at our remote offices and off-site storage facilities. During first phase of the change, all paper record was automated into computer based record. This change was successfully implemented. The detailed report of this change implementation is provided to you as a guideline. Driven by market competition and broader and global information accessibility program, the new chief information officer, Mr Albert plans to migrate important operation data on Cloud.   Mr Abbot takes it as a change implementation challenge as he is very careful about this project sensitivity. He is certain about this move but willing to know whether organization needs to build its own private cloud or use AMAZON web services   (AWS). He is willing to introduce cloud based data warehousing and business intelligence to make better and automated business decisions in the organization. This change is complex. He has required your services as a change consultant group (3 members in your group). Your first task is to develop a change management plan for “Sunoco, Inc.”

TASK Part A: Change Management Plan

For part A of the assessment you must complete the following tasks       you have been asked by Mr Abbot, to develop change management plan for cloud migration.  As a guideline, he has provided you a template.  Based on the information in the case study and the template, Please write a detailed Change Management Plan (1000-1500 words) with the following information:

• Three Biggest Challenges to the requested Change and recommended solutions
• Identify the organization metaphor and  culture of  Sunoco, Inc, important stakeholders  , your change management team  and their Roles
• Identify the change management approach or model selection and justification of its selection
• Identification of Agile Change Management Plan and justification of its selection
• Analysis of the information from the previous areas will provide the basis for the development of the following sub-plans:

1. Action plan
2. Communication plan

• Training plan

1. Business systems plan
2. Resistance plan
