Getting Started
Leading discussion facilitates growth and knowledge in others and is a skill displayed by effective servant leaders. In this discussion forum, you will interact with an assigned group of students to share knowledge and insights gained from your selected leadership book. You will identify five main leadership principles you gained from the book, summarize each of the principles, and facilitate critical thinking by leading discussion about the leadership principles. You will also describe a situation in which the nurse manager would use each principle in a healthcare setting.
Upon successful completion of this discussion, you will be able to:
Summarize leadership principles and practices from a selected leadership book.
Facilitate group discussion on the application of leadership principles in the workplace.

Review the rubric to make sure you understand the criteria for earning your grade.
Finish reading the book you selected from the NUR415 Leadership Book List document.
Prepare to discuss the following prompts:
Identify five leadership principles from your chosen book, summarizing each of them in two or three sentences.
Apply each principle to a specific situation in the healthcare environment in which a nurse manager/leader in a formal position could apply each principle.
Compose two well-developed questions that will encourage energetic discussion with group members about the principles and/or application to nursing.
The same five principles and applications may be used for both 5.2 discussion and 5.3 assignment.
Part 2 of assignment: This is Part II of the book summary. This needs to be a powerpoint presentation using the same five leadership principles picked from the book. Instructions, links, and resources are below and or attached. No more than 12 slides, 10 of those slides will be related to content and the other two slides will be a title slide and a reference slide. It should be APA format.

Getting Started

After reviewing both PowerPoint presentations introduced in Workshop Four, you will create a slide presentation. This presentation will summarize the leadership principles you gained from your chosen book and apply those principles to effective nurse leadership.
