It is recommended that you include some elements of comparison with other relevant cities from the UK and/or elsewhere.

1. Choose one city that you are familiar with and/or are interested in;
2. The following questions should be used as guidelines for your analysis:
a. How has the economy of the city evolved over the last 20 years?
b. What policies have been put in place locally and regionally to support the economic development of this city? How has it been supported or constrained by national policies and local, regional and national governance arrangements?
c. To what extent do you think local and /or regional policies have been effective in supporting local economic development?
d. What recommendation would you make to local policy makers in this city to improve their policies?
3. It is recommended that you use a mix of key academic theories and concepts discussed in the course with policy and consultancy documents to frame your analysis and also support some of your discussion with economic statistics.
