Health Promotion

Students will research and examine a current population health issues in today’s health care environment and develop a presentation to share new knowledge related to the issue and how the master’s prepared nursing role affects population health to improve patient and health outcomes. Students will develop a PPT to share new knowledge relating to a population health issue and then present using Kaltura Media.

 

Assignment Criteria:

Develop a Power Point presentation that includes the following criteria:

1. Give a brief overview of Healthy People 2020.
2. Identify one population health topic from Healthy People 2020.
3. Provide the goal of the chosen population health topic.
4. Provide an overview of the population health topic.
5. Choose and provide a brief overview of one objective from the population health topic.
6. Explain the role(s) the master’s prepared nurse can adopt to affect population health and improve patient and/or health outcomes related population health topic.
7. Identify methods the master’s prepared nurse can use to disseminate/communicate findings related to the population health topic into the practice setting that promote scholarship and evidenced-based practice (EBP).
8. Once the PPT is created, utilize Kaltura media to present the PPT with voice over (use computer and microphone).
9. For presentation clarification, include presenter’s notes in the click to add section to explain the slide.
10. The PowerPoint presentation should not be more than 12 slides (excluding the title slide and reference slide) and 8-10 minutes in length. Be complete and concise. Use bulleted statements not complete sentences or paragraphs.
11. Use APA format for PPT, which always includes a title slide, a reference slide, and APA requirements. Resources found in APA Documents/Resources.
12. A minimum of three (3) references and the Healthy People 2020 website will be required for this assignment. References should be from scholarly peer-reviewed journals (check Ulrich’s Periodical Directory) and be less than five (5) years old.
13. Submit both the PPT with presenter’s notes and the Kaltura presentation to the assignment drop box by posted due date.

• Slide 1: Title-develop a title slide. This should include the title of the presentation, student name, and the university name. Use APA format (does not need to be in Times New Roman for a PPT)
• Slide 2: Introduction-Briefly overview of the PPT. Use key bulleted points not paragraphs
• Slide 3: Purpose Statement-Develop the purpose statement utilizing the instructions above (use bulleted points)
• Slide 4: Overview of Healthy People 2020
• Slide 5: Healthy People 2020 population health topic area
• Slide 6: Goal of the chosen population health topic from the Healthy People 2020 website
• Slide 7: Overview of the population health topic
• Slide 8: One objective with brief overview from the chosen topic population health topic from the Healthy People 2020 website
• Slide 9/10: Provide a brief overview of the chosen objective
• Slide 11/12: Role the master’s prepared nurse adopt in improve patient and/or health outcomes.
• Slide 13/14: Methods the master’s prepared nurse can use to disseminate/communicate the findings within the practice setting to promote scholarship and evidenced-based practice (EBP)
• Slide 15: Conclusion-Include a summary of the main points covered. Again, utilize bulleted statements
• Slide 16: References in APA format (please include in-text citations on slides). References should be in APA format
