Assess the quality improvement program related to health informatics and health information management of University of Virginia health system or any health care organization you are familiar with.

Exercise 1. Exercise 1 will help launch the main project, think about the rationale for the quality improvement program and research what others in the field of health informatics and information management (HIIM) have written about it. Later, you will expand on the topic in this exercise by developing a list of references, including appendices, and writing an abstract.
Task:

1. Develop an introduction (length of 4–6 pages) that explains the rationale for the project by doing the following:
2. Present your topic.
3. Explain why you chose the topic.
4. Explain why you chose your project format (e.g., case study, meta-analysis of data).
5. Discuss why the project is important to the field of health informatics and health information management (HIIM).
6. Explain the problem your project will address (length of 3–5 pages) by doing the following:
7. Outline the problem.
8. Provide background information of the problem.
9. Discuss possible causes of the problem.
10. Explain why an examination of this problem is important.
11. Create a well-organized literature review of 15–20 professional sources by doing the following:
12. Outline research for best practices for your topic.
13. Summarize the professional literature relevant to the topic you have chosen.
14. Provide a conclusion that interprets how the literature applies to the problem being investigated.
15. Provide your preliminary reference list.
16. Assess whether the project complies with IRB standards for exemption status.
17. When you use sources, include all in-text citations and references in APA format.

    Note: When using sources to support ideas and elements in a paper or project, the submission MUST include APA formatted in-text citations with a corresponding reference list for any direct quotes or paraphrasing. It is not necessary to list sources that were consulted if they have not been quoted or paraphrased in the text of the paper or project. Exercise 2

This will be the main portion of the project in which you explore your work and explain it to your reader. Each of the task parts should builds on the other; This format is similar to requirements for grant proposals or publication.

Please answer all the questions below.
Task

1.  Describe how your topic applies to the clinical area or workplace by doing the following:
2.  Describe the clinical area or workplace setting of the topic area.
3.  Discuss roles of any participants or key people in the clinical area or workplace.
4.  Explain how the topic area evolved within the field of Health in health informatics and Information management (HIIM)
5.  Explain how your topic area influences the clinical area or workplace.
6.  Explain challenges that are inherent in this topic area.
7.  Discuss why these challenges occur.
8.  Discuss the negative impact of these challenges.
9.  Discuss how these challenges are resolved in the HIIM clinical area or workplace.
10.  Describe the impact this HIIM topic area has on the profession as a whole.
11.  Discuss any research methodology you used in investigating this topic.
12.  Recommend areas for further research in this HIIM topic area.
13.  Develop a reference list of all the references you cited in your capstone report.
14.  Create an appendix for your project that includes the following:
15.  Appendices and exhibits important to the project that are referenced in the report
16.  Data-gathering instruments (e.g., surveys, questionnaires)
17.  The “Capstone Project Employer Verification Form” you used to obtain permission to conduct your capstone in the organization
18.  Develop an abstract (maximum length of 150 words).
19.  When you use sources, include all in-text citations and references in APA format.
