Change is a constant within the health care arena today. Change is a common source of conflict. All professional nurses must have the leadership and management skills necessary to manage conflict. Sources of potential conflict in the professional setting include disputes over resource allocation, differences in personalities, values, cultural beliefs, professional, organizational and unit goals. Describe a conflict in a clinical setting that you have been involved in, including the effect it had on patient care and/or staff members.
