Advanced Physical Assessment Across the Lifespan
Course Description
The focus of this course for advanced practice nursing students is to expand upon basic health assessment skills and includes strategies for history taking and for physical, functional, developmental, and psycho-social assessment that recognises and includes normal individual, cultural, and developmental variations and pathophysiological changes across the lifespan. Comprehensive and focused data collection, and physical examination strategies culminating in a differential diagnosis will be addressed. An overview of appropriate protocols for performing health screening, ordering, performing, and interpreting laboratory, radio graphic, and other diagnostic data, as well as an introduction to Subjective/Objective/Assessment/Plan (SOAP) note format documentation and record keeping is included.

ASSIGNMENT
In about 400 to 500 words, please formulate 2 primary care differential diagnosis as well as a lab and radiology (as applies) workup for each differential diagnosis. Patient information/problem listed below. Your differential and diagnostic workup and treatment must be supported by peer-reviewed, recent references pointing to best practices. There must be a minimum of 3 references per differential diagnosis. All of this should be laid out in APA style and presented in a format of your choosing.
The workup should include the appropriate lab work or other diagnostics with rationale and interpretation, and a treatment plan (including any medications, education, follow-up plan).
Also, please include a separate 50 to 200 word summary (no sources needed) pertaining to this assignment which will be submitted to a discussion forum.
