We believe that learning about ethical and critical use of Generative AI tools such as ChatGPT is rapidly becoming a vital skill in the contemporary workplace. We introduced this task to enable you to directly experience the opportunities and challenges that use of such tools present, and we strongly encourage you to fully engage with it.
PREPARATION
Go to https://chat.openai.com/ and select “getting started” to register with ChatGPT. Pose the question: “What are the various ways that Generative AI tools could be used within [insert an industry of your choice]”. (For example, depending on your interests you might choose retail banking, management consultancy, the legal sector etc.) Save the output of your initial enquiry to include with your portfolio of assessed work (Document A).
Refine your initial output with further queries within ChatGPT, carry out your own additional research to cross check the results for accuracy and to include specific supporting practical examples. After carrying out this additional work, produce a revised version of Document A which you would consider to be of sufficient quality to submit for assessment, or to publish publicly as a blogpost, for example. Call this one Document B.
ASSESSED TASKS
- Describe the approach you took to refining the information initially provided by ChatGPT to complete your work. In comparing documents A and B, in what ways did you find use of the tool helpful / unhelpful? (500 words)

How can you ensure that what you produce is objective (while also acknowledging and considering a range of perspectives)
