Assignment 4: Special Topics Research Paper (Individual)
With this assignment, you will have the opportunity to explore, research and craft a paper on any of the gender, diversity and social justice topics that were covered during this course. You are asked to identify an issue, provide a thesis statement, a clear introduction, body with evidence and conclusion. The body should include a brief paragraph on your position, supported using the theoretical underpinnings and concepts discussed during this course. You should draw on Units 1-8 lectures, discussions and readings to guide and inform your understanding of the various principles of the topic. You should engage critically with the course materials as well as include 8-10 sources (total, including course materials and other academic books/articles OR grey literature).
Additional requirements:

1. Please attach the first pages of the articles and/or web sources you are referencing in your paper (either as a separate document or as additional pages of your paper).
2. In addition to the author name and year of the publication included in citations, please include a relevant page number (e.g., Smith, 2005, p. 10).
   Your completed assignment must be uploaded to Moodle by the date and time indicated on the activities schedule. Your submitted assignments must follow the most recent version of APA formatting and referencing. Grading for this assignment will be based on the learning outcomes as listed on the Assessment matrix.
   I reserve the right to meet with students to discuss their papers if there are any concerns about the use of AI tools or if any part of the work requires clarification. This meeting will help ensure the integrity of your work and address any issues that may arise.
   Length: 1500 words (+/- 10%), excluding abstract and references page (8-10 sources total).
   You are required to post a 7-sentence Abstract of your special topics paper in the Unit 7 Discussion Forum to be shared/viewed by your peers (this mimics the concision, clarity and concision required of conference proceedings). I will provide the rubric for crafting the abstract.
