In this week’s assignment you will be a critique and analyze the two films viewed, Finding Vivian Maier and The Realms of the Unreal. We would like you to answer those questions from the beginning of this week’s outline above and apply to both films, once again they are: did these artists want their work to be seen? If they did, why didn’t they when they were alive? Are there consequences for those who can’t speak for themselves? You will also be incorporating the five strategies in analyzing film:
Identify the film’s main argument and/ or purpose.
Provide a brief summary of the film: the characters, the “plot” of the film.
Examine how the film’s argument/purpose is supported through facts in the film.
How does the structure of the film achieve its purpose?
How valid is the argument? Are there contradictions or inconsistencies?
In a separate paragraph write a critique of the two films and you should also incorporate all the above questions and your own opinion of the films.
