Environmental Protections

This is a good start. You explain your independent and dependent variables as concepts; your hypothesis is that the wealthier a country is the more environmental protections it will have.

There are three things you need to do in order to turn this into a good paper for this class:

  1. Be more careful about how you measure your key variables. The best, and most common, way we measure how wealthy a country is is by using its “Gross Domestic Product” per person (or “per capita”) – this is a measure of the average income for people living in the country. The numbers that you use here – which show, for example, that China is richer than Germany but Canada is richer than both – do not make any sense.you should more specifically explain what these people are measuring and how you might use it as a way to observe your dependent variable. If you don’t use this that’s fine, but then you need to give some other explanation of what you are doing.
  2. Be more systematic about how you compare your cases. Have a chart or a paragraph or something where you show how the richer countries do on environmental laws, and how the poor countries do, and then whether there are any major differences between the two groups.
