Participants : HR Manager (you), Creative Director, Supervisor, Receptionist (Maryam)
You are an HR Manager at VanMed, a federally regulated media company located in Vancouver, Canada. Maryam, a receptionist, has received positive appraisals over her twenty-six years with the company from their supervisors. However, the Creative Director appears contemptuous towards them. He claims: “they make too many mistakes and do not make the right first impression at the front desk”. He asks Maryam’s immediate Supervisor to document the employee’s poor performance and prepare the paperwork necessary to instigate a termination process. The Supervisor is stunned: they think Maryam is a good employee. However, the Supervisor feels as though they can’t risk their own job by directly confronting the Creative Director. The Supervisor comes to you for advice.
Part 1: Instructions
