Purpose

The purpose of this assignment is for learners to document their progression of the Direct Care Part 1: Assessment and Diagnosis assignment and pose any questions they may have.

Course Outcomes

This assignment enables the student to meet the following course outcomes:

• CO 1: Apply leadership concepts, skills, and decision making in the provision of quality nursing care. (PO 2) 
• CO 2: Apply the nursing process to quality improvement of patient-centered care outcomes. (POs 4, 7) 

Late Assignment Policy

Timely submission is strongly encouraged in order to receive the feedback needed to produce a quality paper/project. The late assignment penalty does not pertain to this assignment.

Directions

1. Identify a clinical certification used in a clinical setting. See Week 2 lesson for examples.
2. Identify a target population of RNs in a clinical setting that is unaware of the benefits of certification on patient outcomes and leadership skills. Population needs to be two or more RNs from the identified clinical setting for which the certification would apply.
   1. Example:
      1. Certification: CNOR (Certified Nurse – Operating Room)
      2. Target population: Operating room registered nurses
      3. Setting: Operating room
3. Answer the questions below about your progress in the Direct Care Part 1: Assessment and Diagnosis assignment.
   1. Note: You may not progress to the Direct Care Part 1: Assessment and Diagnosis assignment until your target population and clinical certificationhas been approved by your instructor.
      1. Review comments about your target population and clinical certification from your instructor in Grades.
      2. If your target population and clinical certification are approved or not approved, it will be marked in the Assignment Comments.
      3. If not approved, follow your instructor’s directions for next steps. You may have to resubmit your information.
