Before you write the paper, choose your image and then take notes on some or all of the following questions:
a. What is the overall effect of the design: colorful/busy, quiet and understated, old-fashioned or cutting edge? What is your overall impression before you dig deeper?
b. What caught your attention first and why? Where do your eyes go then? Why do you think this is so?
c. Consider the audience for the ad: who is intended to be the audience? How might others feel about it?
d. What is the argument? In other words, what is it trying to get us to do or think about?
e. look for rhetorical appeals and take notes on how they are used (if applied): ethos, pathos, and logos.
f. What is the relation of print to the image? Look at colors and think about what they could possibly mean
