DATABASE APPLICATION

The first thing you need is a topic — you can choose your own, as long as it is approved by me. Start brainstorming the fields you think may fit into your project, then you will work on organizing the fields. You need to create a database that contains 3 tables, and these tables must be related. You have been working with several examples throughout the semester, including TAL Distributors. Now it is your chance to create a similar structure using a topic of your choice.

For example, if you were going to create a database on your stamp collection, you should start thinking of everything related to stamps. Make a list like — name, size, cost, date acquired, place acquired, year introduced, special notations, condition, etc… Then you will work on setting up your tables by putting related fields in the same table. Remember you need to have 3 tables that can be related. So think of one-to-many situations with your idea. One STAMP can have MANY what? One WHAT can have MANY STAMPS?? This will help you broaden your idea to include related objects.
If you are having trouble choosing a topic, think of something you enjoy. Just to give you more ideas, popular projects in the past have included music, cars, and sports, but you can really create a database about anything — start looking through your closets if you are really having trouble!
