Paper instructions

During this week, you learned the importance of having a global mindset as it relates to various diversity dimensions such as age, gender, race, religion, socio-economic background, and even intelligence and ideology.
Discuss three to four requirements of cultural intelligence. For each requirement that you discuss, present the requirement, and then give an example of how this requirement could be applied in a real-world setting. The example can be one from your own personal experience or just that of an example.

Cultural intelligence is the ability to behaviorally adapt, recognize, and interpret multi-cultural situations and contexts. As in the phrase “global mentality,” the definition of culture” here needs to be expanded to include other aspects of diversity such as age, gender, ethnicity, faith, socio-economic status, and intellect and philosophy.
The method of defining culture and designing a plan to bridge cultural distances is complicated, partially because each culture has several layers. Under the overt characteristics of culture (such as vocabulary, clothing, or manner) that are reasonably easy to understand, subtle characteristics (such as world views and perceptual habits) require time and maturity to discover and understand.
Some likened the concept of experiencing culture to seeing an iceberg. They see just the recognizable tip of culture—its vocabulary, food, dress style, and architecture, or its lifestyle and habits. However, a little deeper down, hidden below, are the ideals and principles that underlie it. Another picture is culture as an onion, with exterior layers that must be stripped away to access the heart of culture’s fundamental truths.
Highly regarded sociologist Edgar Schein attempts to explain the various levels of society and their interrelation through his layers of culture model. Please see Figure 2 below. He researched organizational cultures, but his paradigm extends to global, geographic, or other kinds of culture equally well. It is necessary to note that the outer layers are derived from the innermost layers and can be completely understood only in this sense.
