TIME MANAGEMENT AND HIGHER-LEVEL THINKING
Higher-Level Thinking (or Critical Thinking) involves making connections between what you’re trying to learn and what you already know. When you learn something deeply, it is stored in the brain as a link in an interconnected network of brain cells. Critical Thinking requires two distinctively different processes: active engagement and reflection. In this assignment you will be asked to actively read through the Critical Thinking Skills section of Lumen Learning.

1. Read the following section on Critical Thinking in the Lumen website: https://courses.lumenlearning.com/collegesuccess-lumen/chapter/critical-thinking-skills/
2. Visit the Quia Critical Thinking Quiz page and click on Start Now (you don’t need to enter your name). Select the best answer for each question, and then click on Submit Answers. A score of 70 percent or better on this quiz is considering passing.
3. Consider your score. Based on the content of the questions, do you feel you use good critical thinking strategies? In what ways might you improve as a critical thinker?

   • Complete this assignment in a 6-paragraph essay. (3 pages)
   • Include introduction and conclusion paragraphs to summarize the main ideas of your essay. You may find guides to draft these essential essay components under the “Resources” dropdown menu of the TLC Portal.
   • Answer the following question in one paragraph: Based on the reading, which critical thinking strategies will be most useful for you?
   • Choose three strategies you can employ to enhance your critical thinking skills. Write a paragraph for each strategy and discuss how you can implement the strategy as you progress through your program at Trident.
   • Please be sure to include in-text citations in APA format and a References page.
