Pointers from the Professor:
I wanted to give you some pointers on writing to a prompt.
Prompts in the course and the dissertation require a response that provides specific information. Many students, especially those who are excellent writers, do very well in lower-level work because they write so well. The quality of their writing overcomes the deficiencies in addressing prompts. That is not the case at the doctoral level. You must write well, and you must directly address the prompts. One student asked what that process might look like. Here is a copy of my answer.
During this module, we review the concept of technology structures and social boundaries for organizations. Provide an overview of the technical and social terminology for organizations today. Within your discussion be sure to address the following areas:
- How do each of these apply to the three perspectives (natural, rational, and open)?
- What areas of technology are an issue for participants?
- What are the issues with organizational boundaries for participants?
- Personal perspectives
Include any theoretical viewpoints for each of these areas. You are not limited to these questions, they are simply to assist you in the evaluation process.
I would copy the prompt and put it in a Word file. Then edit it down into the requests from the prompt.
I look for content and APA standards. If I have a writing preference that is not required, I’ll let you know that I do and why, but I won’t mark off for it. I mark this from the perspective that you will soon be writing a project, and you will need to know the standards. It is better to learn them here and have the advantage for future classes than not have them.
It is not difficult if you use good structure, the required citations, and APA. Scholarly writing is a formula.
Give a thesis. Give a point. Give support. Give Connection. Give a point. Give support. Give Connection. Give a point. Give support. Give Connection. Give a point. Give support. Give Connection. Give a point. Give support. Give Connection. Give a point. Give support. Give Connection. Until you have explored the topic fully, then give a conclusion.
For each thread, students must support their assertions with at least 7 scholarly citations in APA format.
Also, use the APA 7 template and guide for papers.
