Computer Ethics

Final Project Details
The last 2 weeks of the term are devoted to individual student presentations of ethical issues related to computers and information technology.
Objective: Gain experience researching your topic by gathering multiple
authoritative, external sources and integrating your findings and analysis in a well- structured presentation and paper.
Each presentation will be about 15 minutes long, accompanied by a written paper.
The Topics: All presentation topics will be individual and unique. Attached is a list of general topic ideas. You can expand on any topic that we have covered in class. If there is a topic area you would like to cover that we have not discussed in class or that is not listed below please consult with me for approval of your selection.
The Paper: Your paper should be a formal research paper with introduction, history, timeline, current status, cases and supplemental information such as article or video that you thoroughly summarize in your paper, self-reflection and opinion with
evidence to supplement your findings supporting your opinion. There should be footnotes and a bibliography with sources cited.
Investigate the topic. Use articles and/or books, etc., for background. Your project must include some background research.
Do not just report. Discuss pros and cons. Evaluate. Use your own words. Quote
where appropriate. Give citations for facts and quotes. Discuss how your topic relates to material covered in the text and/or in class discussions.
Most students find 5-7 pages to be an adequate length to completely cover the topic they have selected.
