Commander’s Intent and Planning Guidance

Please consider using the rubric attached to guide and fill in the required points and complete the assignment.
Write a commander’s initial intent and prepare a proper planning guide for the division’s staff on which to base the development of the division’s course of action (COA). You will base your commander’s intent and planning guidance on the mission analysis developed by the staff group, conducted during the M361 Division Defensive Operations Practice. This should be written as if I were the commander of the 4ID.
This assessment is a two-part assessment:
Part 1: Write down a commander’s initial intent for the defense of the division, with two BCTs between PL BLACK and MARRON.
Part 2: Prepare the Commander’s Planning Guide for the Conduct of War (WfF) Function of Movement and Maneuver (M2), the WfF of Sustainment, Intelligent, that covers the requirements described in this rubric.
Standard: The commander’s intent should include the broader purpose, the key purposeful tasks, and the final state conditions consistent with the content of the oral mission analysis report.

The analysis should include a review of the three components of a doctrinally correct commander’s intent (IAW ADP 5-0, para. 2-103-2-105; ADP 6-0, paras. 1-45-1-51; and FM 5-0, paras. 1-59-1-62 and 5-75-5-77). The planning guide includes a description of an operational approach and guidance on the COAs for developing and playing the war game, in accordance with the contents of the mission analysis report, and also includes the appropriate WfF guidance necessary for effective staff planning (ADP 5-0, para. 1-39, and FM 5-0, para. 1-81 and 5-86-5-89). FM 5-0 Table 5-3 gives examples of planning guidance topics by WfF. All responses should be clear, concise, and complete, using proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
