Both in the readings for this week and in public discussion, the idea of the “gig economy” or “contingent work” is widely discussed. People work freelance or as temporary contractors more. What I want you to do is to EITHER (A) reflect on what feelings you have about this shift. Are you aware of it, and what do you think? Or (B) reflect on this idea of the career progression paradox from O’Mahony and Bechky. How are you supposed to get work if you don’t have experience, but work is the way you get experience? What have you done to possibly address it, and is it something you are apprehensive about?
