.Question: From your study of art in this course, select key examples (specific works of art identified by artist if known, the title, date, and style) of the human figure and how its depiction reflects the preeminent values of the social, political and philosophical contexts in which they were created. When I say “depiction,” I mean how is the figure treated artistically; discuss the anatomy, proportions, whether it is naturalistic or abstract to demonstrate how the artist has reflected the values of the social, political, and philosophical contexts. In your answer, you must discuss at least one specific work (fully identified by artist if known, title, date, style) from 7 of the following countries or periods: Paleolithic, Neolithic, Mesopotamia, Egypt, India, China, Japan, Greek, Roman, Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Mesoamerica, North American (Native Americans), African, Nineteenth Century European, Twentieth Century European or American. Each of the choices must be from a different country or period listed above. Three of your 7 choices must be non-European and non-United States examples; these choices may be from Paleolithic, Neolithic, Mesopotamia, Egypt, India, China, Japan, African, Native American, or Mesoamerican. Four of your 7 choices should be from the other areas: Greek, Roman, Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Nineteenth Century European, Twentieth Century European or American.
