Argumentative Essay

Formal Outline
1.)Should the U.S. build a wall along the border with Mexico?
A) Did you know ladders were invented 10,000 years ago?
B) The most heavily crossed borders in the world is the 2,000-mile border that
stretches from California to Texas. Currently, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection
maintains roughly 700 miles of border fencing. In addition, our border contains
surveillance tools, such as drones, helicopters, radar, cameras and ground sensors. C) President Trump has repeatedly said that he will build that wall. The theory
of a wall has created controversy between policymakers and U.S. civilians. Those that
agree with President Trump say a wall is good for stopping migrants, terrorists and cartels
from crossing the border illegally. They say that a wall can boost up the economy and
create a safer country. Despite all that, we must understand what is realistic. The budget
for this project is undoable and and we must understand, due to history, a wall never
works. As history says, a wall will lead to more conflict and chaos. Furthermore, the
issue with illegal immigrants are not just crossing the border, but instead, the ones who
abuse their visas.
