This is a difficult issue because I have not met people that earned their money that willing to give it up or reduce how much they are getting. Have you?

Additionally, this is a true global issue with lots of massive differences between the have and have not around the world. I think you should look at both developing nation and developed nations on both side of the equator to get the best points of view from multiple areas.

Two of the global societal issues I’d like to discuss would be minimum wage and wealth disparity. In my opinion they almost tie in together. Currency is the basis of what the world runs on so I feel these two issues will be something I can write a lot about.

• As I said about I feel these two issues have a lot I can dive in to. In fact currency is the root for a lot of problems, including topics such as refugee crises. From my understanding, a lot of countries, including the US, profits from war. Also I believe I’m familiar with these two topics the most and is something I’m passionate about and can write a lot about.
• There are many ways one can check to see if a source is credible. Who are they writing for for instance. Is it the news paper or Entertainment Weekly? One may contain more facts than the other. Dates are something else I can look for. If the source is too old it may not be credible anymore due to recent findings. You can also check on the authors credentials. Dr. Shapiro MD may be more credible than Lifeguard Joe when it comes to talking about the human heart for instance.
• One article I’ve found is The Effects of Minimum Wage on Employment. This article goes into the pros and cons of raising minimum wage, however, the authors seem to agree that raising the wage will do more good than harm. Another article I’ve found is Who Benefits from a Minimum Wage Increase? The authors address the question of how a minimum wage increase affects the wages of low-wage workers relative to the wage the worker would have if there had been no minimum wage increase.
• Scholarly articles are critical in writing a paper over these such topics. Having an expert in their respective fields will have more information and contain more facts. It wouldn’t make sense to use an article written by some random blogger who is just complaining.

In thinking about my final paper, I think the two issues I would like to discuss and further researches are minimum wages and adult literacy. I believe that both topics are not addressed as much as they should be by the people that they affect the most. It has been interesting to me since I have been old enough to understand adult literacy and how many adults actually cannot read. The second topic is minimum wage because this also affects us all as we get older and start working. These two items are ones that can have a lot of information since they affect us no matter what country we live in but if you know where to look and what is available to you, it is less complicated. As we dig deeper into these topics, you must narrow your research down to be as specific as possible.

I have decided after further research and availability of information to write my final paper on minimum wage. People are always quick to say that the minimum wage amount should be increased but there are two sides to this topic and both will affect people and their circumstances. I made my decision by looking up the topics and then tried narrowing my research down to specific areas of the world. I have found handy and factual information on this issue and hope that I can help explain why sometimes it is ok to raise the minimum wage and other times it may be doing more harm than good.

In doing my research, I know that I have to be sure that my research is credible. Three ways to be sure that the information is credible are: Is the article old, or out of date for the information, I am looking into writing about?  Is the author a person that writes facts and can back them up with the information that is also truthful? Who is the article or information written for and are they writing the information in an unbiased manner?

The Real Minimum Wage: Zero is an article written by Avik Roy (2015), and this article discusses ObamaCare and how the raising of the minimum wage is eliminating some jobs as well as raising the standards of living. ObamaCare is a plan that implemented a policy that any company with more than 50 full-time employees has to have health care for them. The effect of this is that a lot of companies are hiring people part-time instead to save money. Many people believe the way to fix this is to raise the minimum wage. Raising the minimum wage in response to this can cause many other situations.

The next article takes a different stand and says that raising minimum wage does not hurt employment or the economy it helps. This article, The Minimum-Wage War is written by Tim Dickinson (2014), and he states that raising minimum wage improves the quality of life for the low-income workers. About 70% of people in the United States support the increase of minimum wage. Since 1968 the minimum wage has been on a decline which is making the income inequality to higher levels. The cost of living needs has been going up, so the minimum wage needs to reflect that as well.

Scholarly sources need to be used to support our writing because supply the facts needed support what we are trying to argue. If you only supply your opinion in an article, then it becomes biased, and most people will not take you seriously.
