Application Process

Question 1

Write a 2-page paper outlining how and why you would select members for one of the committees or the team listed below. The committee or team will function within a local community action group:

1. A committee dedicated to securing a financial grant for advertising a new housing program.
2. A team focused on recruiting volunteers to assist at a local food shelf.
3. A committee tasked with researching a new electronic system that tracks detailed data on clients’ preferences of services.

In your paper, address the following questions:

• Will you use an application process or simply appoint members?
• What criteria will be used to select committee or team members?
• Is diversity of organizational positions and skill sets required or desired? Give the rationale for requiring or desiring diversity for the committee or team members.
• Are selection criteria based on length of service, job performance, or other factors?
• Who will be responsible for setting overall goals and timelines once the committee is formed?

The paper must support the claims with at least three appropriate references and be formatted according to APA requirements.

Question 2

Part A: Analysis Plan

• Explain what media and forms of communication (at least one of which will be verbal) you would employ to communicate with each group—youths, parents, and medical staff—that will be most effective with these audiences.
• Identify two to three conflicts that could potentially arise with any one of the constituents and the strategies you would employ to resolve the conflicts.
• Prioritize and explain the most pertinent aspects of the message to be conveyed to each group.

Part B: Communication Memos

• Compose in detail three different communication messages that appropriately match each group of recipients—youths, parents, and medical staff—regarding the recent outbreak of the communicable disease. One of the messages should be a script for a verbal communication. Consider the following aspects when composing your messages—the recipient, the context, the content, and delivery variables.

Part C: Application of Theory

• Explain which communication theories you applied to the situation that influenced your approach to handling this problem.
