Annotated Bibliography: Terrorism

An annotated bibliography is a list of citations to books, book chapters, articles, and other sources. Each citation is followed by a brief descriptive and evaluative paragraph: the annotation. The purpose of the annotation is to inform the reader of the content, relevance, accuracy, and quality of the sources cited. Annotations are not mere summaries. They are descriptive, like summaries, but they are also critical: they discuss the author’s point of view, clarity, authority, etc. In short, the critical summary should answer questions such as “what is the author trying to prove?”, “what evidence does he/she use?”, and “how will the article be useful to my paper”?

For this assignment, you will do annotations for a minimum of FIVE sources, at least two of which must be academic. Each annotation should be between 120 and 150 words (not including the citation itself). Each annotation must include at least one effective quotation. The Annotated Bibliography must follow the latest MLA style of formatting and documentation.

As this annotated bibliography is part of the process of writing your final research paper, you will provide a tentative thesis statement at the top of your paper.

In short

• Write your thesis at the top. • Five sources (if you have more, choose only five). • At least two sources must be academic. • Full bibliographic citation for each. • Critical summary between 120-150 words each. • Each annotation must include one quotation from the source.
