Algerian revolution close reading- This assignment consists of two sections that should be labeled in the following manner when turning in your work—Historical Context and Close Reading. Part I. Historical Context (1 page): For this portion of your assignment, you are to summarize the history covered in the unit in 2 paragraphs. You are then to offer a brief critical reflection concerning this history’s manifestation in the literary text under discussion (1-2 paragraphs). You are to personally reflect on the literary text’s subject matter and how the history you described helps further your understanding of the literary text. Think: How does knowledge of the historical moment shape the author’s narrative content and your understanding of the narrative? ***Note: You can use first person when composing this section—“I think, I believe…”.*** Part II. Close Reading (1 page): For this final portion of your assignment, you are to demonstrate how the history in question shapes the narrative via a close reading of a passage you choose. A strong passage is 3-5 sentences in length. This section requires that you work toward developing a reading of the literary text in tune with the history under discussion.
