I think that the young adults’ ad was influenced by my belief in the value of diversity and inclusion, so I definitely viewed the ad positively. Having lived in New England, I found the Hyundai ad’s portrayal of the accent and local culture relatable and funny, which might have influenced my positive reception of the stereotype. The Toyota ad’s focus on heroism resonated with my belief in strong, capable women so I felt that Cobie Smulders’ role as empowering rather than stereotypical.
