Research
Locate and read an article in the Capella University Library that discusses the disease and moral models of addiction. Try to find a single article that discusses both models. If you are unable to find one article that includes both, find and read individual articles on each model. You will use the information you have found in this unit’s second discussion.

Disease and Moral Models of Addiction
Based on the research you did in this unit’s studies:
• Compare and contrast the disease and moral models, discussed in the readings, for explaining addictions.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of each model and the advantages and limitations of using each with clients from diverse backgrounds. Support your ideas with material from the professional literature.
• Be sure to answer the following questions:
• How does each model conceptualize and treat issues of addiction?
• What are the strengths and limitations of each model?
• Which model are you least comfortable working with, and why?
