How to Write a Thesis Statement
When you write a thesis statement, you should follow these rules:
• Thesis statement must be specific and narrow.
• Thesis statement cannot be a question.
• Thesis statement must be a debatable issue for which research has been conducted related to policy/program effectiveness. (It cannot be a statement of fact or opinion).
• You must pick a side of the debatable issue; do not be ambiguous.
