This assignment must be typed, double-spaced, in 7th ed APA style, and must be written at graduate level English.

For this assignment, you are given 2 cases. Your response to each case must integrate the material presented in the text in your own understanding. You are encouraged to use additional current (5 years or less) evidence-based sources to support and compliment the text, but not replace the text. Cite your work according to 7th ed APA format. Legal and ethical issues, and issues of culture and diversity must be addressed when relevant.

Your response to each case should be 3-4 pages per case
The entire assignment should be 7-8 pages total plus a title and reference page.

Case One

Jian, a 52-year-old Chinese American man, has been in counseling with you at your internship site for the past 13 weeks. He describes himself as a successful dentist with a thriving practice who has recently been displaced because of a large-scale flood. He mentions that his house has been destroyed and all of his possessions were lost. He states that he is from Texas and has no family in the area. He has no family of his own and recently had a divorce with his wife of 15 years. His initial concerns include flight of thoughts, heart palpitations, feeling that “everyone is out to get him,” and insomnia. These symptoms have been occurring for approximately three weeks. In today’s session, Jian demonstrated a flat affect, and mentioned that he had another night of little sleep. He said, “I feel like it is me against the world.” He mentions that his work is starting to suffer and he has made a few dentistry errors due to his exhaustion and preoccupied thoughts.

Case Two

Amid is a 15-year-old Muslim American survivor of a local school shooting. He is referred to you by the local school district for disturbing verbal and nonverbal behaviour, which significantly interferes with his school performance. He describes periods of time when he is tearful, cannot concentrate, feels angry, and fears being alone because he “doesn’t know what he’ll do.” His mother mentioned to you that she is “worried, he is reckless and still hasn’t healed from losing his good friend.” Amid agreed to try a low dose of medication to support his current intense bouts of anxiety. Amid mentions that he wants to stop thinking about watching his friend dying. He stated that he desperately wants to take revenge on the guy that shot him and knows just what he would do to him. School officials and his parents cannot determine if he will act on these statements.
