REHEARSAL LAB PERFORMANCE REFLECTIONS
Must be at least two double-spaced pages in length and include reflections on your effectiveness/clarity of conducting gestures, non-verbal communication,
posture/presence/availability, and preparation—but most of all, the degree to
which you believe you were successful in a rehearsal situation. As such, the
Rehearsal Lab Performance Reflections are due following the Rehearsal Lab, and your observations should be mainly based on that
conducting footage. Areas that should be addressed include, but are not limited to, the following:
- How compelling and inviting is my physical and mental presentation on
the podium? - Pace of rehearsal time—uninterrupted conducting time vs. time to stop
and make comments, suggestions, and/or corrections - Do my non-verbal/gestural “requests” match my spoken, verbal
instruction and feedback? In short, do my gestures have integrity and
match my expressed intention? - Does my rehearsal time frame have a logical sequence of beginning
(Macro), middle (Micro), and end (Macro)—with clearly expressed short-
term goals, thoughtful and intentional scaffolding, and a satisfying
conclusion?
Above are just a few directions you could take in your response…
The reflection should be in a prose narrative format (i.e. complete sentences
and not a list), and contain no grammar or spelling errors. Full points will be
awarded to papers that adhere to the directives above – papers that deviate
from the above will have points taken off accordingly. Reflections are turned in
via Canvas as a pdf (see above)
