Exercises

1.Fish and Spheres

Create a world containing a fish and two spheres. Each sphere has a radius of 0.25 meters. One sphere is blue, the other is red. Position the fish and two spheres in a sea floor world. The spheres have magical properties. If the fish eats the red sphere it doubles in size and the sphere disappears. If the fish eats the blue sphere it shrinks to half its size and the sphere disappears. When the world begins to play, the fish turns to face the closest sphere, swims to it, and eats it. Then the fish turns to the other sphere, swims to it, and eats it. You need to decide what happens to the sphere visually when the fish eats it. You might modify this world so that there are, say, 5 spheres, and the fish always swims to the closest one, until there are no more spheres.

2.Change

Create a world containing an actor (your choice) and an environment (your choice). The actor asks how much would you like to spend. The amount must be less than one dollar. You present the actor with $1.00. The actor then tells you how many quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies change you will receive. For example, if you tell the actor that you would like to spend 37 cents, the actor would tell you that you will receive 63 cents in change – 2 quarters, 1 dime, and 3 pennies. You might modify this world so that the actor repeatedly asks the user how much you would like to spend.

3.Guess my Number

Create a world containing an actor (your choice) and an environment (your choice). When the world begins to play, the actor selects a WholeNumber at random in the range 1..99. The actor then repeatedly asks you to guess the number. If you guess too high, the actors says“Too high” and if you guess too low, the actor says“Too low.” The actor keeps track of the number of erroneous guesses. If you guess correctly, the actor says“Correct, you only needed # guesses.” You might modify the game to allow a maximum of, say, 10 guesses, after which the actor might say“You lose!”
