Your answer below is information about Martin Luther, but it does not answer the question about whether you think he was a radical or not. You need to address that – USE your evidence to prove an argument. Do not just list facts!

9. Is it appropriate to characterize Martin Luther as a radical? Why or Why not?
Protestant founder Martin Luther was characterized by his departure from the traditional rule of faith of the Catholic Church. His radical change to private judgement and taking up the Bible as the only infallible authority naturally led to an excess of sectarianism and individuality. Luther was vigorous in criticizing fellow Protestants including the Anabaptists (who denied baptism) and the Sacramentarians (who failed to recognize the significance of the Lord’s Supper). Luther was concerned with the corruption and other abuses imposed by the Roman Catholic Church and sought to reform it from the inside by sending a “theses” to Rome citing the corruptions and the need for change. No action was taken. Luther went public with his reforms and in time the Catholic Church agreed with most of his complaints and reforms but by this time the split between Catholics and Protestants had already occurred.
