The Social Issue

 Requirements:
o The Social Issue Paper is a formal academic paper. 4 pages in length, double-spaced, using Times New Roman 12 pt., with 1” margins all around. Number your pages and staple your paper.
o Both in-text citations (or footnotes) and a References Page must be given, crediting all sources you have used. APA Style must be used: the Begley Library offers an “APA Style In Brief” guide on-line and at the library; staff can also assist you upon request.

Choose a Social Issue of particular interest to you.
o A thorough list can be found by using our textbook chapters and sub-sections as a guide.
o Narrow it down”
o Research your topic, using a minimum of 5 sources.

1. Introduce your topic and present your research.
o Remember to use in-text citations or footnotes to credit all sources.
o Where there is disagreement among sources, make sure to clarify the varying perspectives.

2. Identify your own perspective on this issue.
o Why did you choose this topic? Why is it important to you? Where do you stand?

3. Conclusion
o What do you think we, as a society, should be doing about this issue?
o What further research is needed?
o What have you learned from writing this paper?

4. Structure, proofreading, crediting of all resources used, etc.
o Paper is well-organized and includes all required elements.
o Paper is well-written, grammatically correct, and has been thoroughly proofread.
