Limits, friendship, and love: a match made in Heaven. Read (and reread and annotate) “Friendship is a Root of Freedom: from Joyful Militancy,” by Nick Montgomery & carla bergman and “The Magic Number” by Robin Dunbar. Then, choose one or two texts from this semester to put in conversation with these two texts. Considering the theme of our class, LOVE (spiritual, emotional, social, familial, romantic, physical, etc):
Where do these texts agree/align with one another?
Where do they disagree/challenge one another?
Where are gaps in one text that are filled in by another?
Once you’ve answered these questions in your notes, I want you to think about love in your own life – various kinds of love and how that is lived (not theorized). Putting all of these texts together in conversation, how does this help you understand the love you are (or are not) living? How can these texts help you theorize (and hopefully live) the love you want in your life? This essay should be 1250-1700 words, double spaced, MLA format with an engaging title, in text citations and a Works Cited page.
